  Finished Fuels

Refined middle distillate fuels have undergone changes in quality over the past two decades creating a situation that requires fuel users to be more diligent in checking both the quality of received fuel and the fuel storage facilities into which the fuel is placed. These changes are a result of lower quality crudes, increased demand for distilled product from a barrel of crude, and a more severe refining process. While today's middle distillate fuel still meets ASTM Specifications, problems arising from the fuel's susceptibility to both outside contaminants and inherent deficiencies, call for continued examination and maintenance of fueling systems.

Even if good housekeeping practices are strictly enforced; dirt, debris, water, and microorganisms can collect in tankers, fill lines, fill areas, and storage tanks. Routine fuel analysis using field Test Kits or an independent laboratory will provide the current condition of the fuel and fuel system. The number one weapon in your arsenal for microbiological attack is Kathon® FP 1.5 a fast acting broad spectrum biocide. It entrenches itself in your fuel system and when it comes in contact with water will rapidly partition to the water phase killing the microorganisms and protecting your entire fuel system. Treat your fuel system periodically with Kathon® FP 1.5 biocide to terminate any microbial strong holds.
